The FabLearn Conference brings together key influencers and thought-leaders from around the world in education, policy-making, academia, design, research, and maker communities to learn, present, and discuss digital fabrication in education, the maker culture, hands-on learning, and instructional tools.

Despite the recent popularity of the maker movement and fab labs in education, most educators work in isolation, cut off from other practitioners doing similar projects, as well as learning sciences researchers. One of the main objectives of the FabLearn Conference is to bring researchers and practitioners together to help bridge these gaps.

While the primary goal of the conference is to disseminate information and connect researchers with practitioners, the conference also has a small research agenda. The primary goal was to establish the current “state of the field” by gathering information about who was currently interested in field and the kind of work they were doing.
